WHAT IS INSIGHTS FROM THE FIELD?

Insights from the Field
is a quarterly bulletin produced in Buenos Aires, Argentina with the aim of promoting perspectives from within the region on politico-economic and security issues affecting Latin America.
It draws on insights from regional scholars, government leaders and business executives.
All featured reports are translated from their original Spanish or Portuguese into English and edited into an organized, easy-to-read format.
Each edition provides a round-up of the most significant political, economic and security issues from the previous three months; three scholarly reports emanating from the field and an overview of key trends within one regional, strategic industry (defense, energy, telecommunications, etc.).
It is a unique publication that focuses on political, economic, and security issues of a strategic nature. It fills the gap left by economic publications that overlook defense and defense publications that avoid economics.
It is a tool designed for C-level executives and other high-level decision-makers with work in Latin America that must understand the region as the region understands itself.
WHY IS INSIGHTS DIFFERENT?

Insights provides informed perspectives from within the region which, owed to both language and cultural barriers, often don’t make their way into the mainstream media and/ or publications from Washington policy centers.
Publications out of Washington policy centers cover strategic issues in the region but lack opinions from people with a pulse on the daily goings-on.
Its unique focus on politico-economics and defense security issues allows for a more comprehensive understanding of political motivations and areas of conflict which inevitably spill over into economics (and vice versa).
Insights takes complex, often culturally-based concepts from their original language and relays them in an easy-to-read format in English.
Reputable publications focused on economics often over-look defense while defense publications are light on economics.
Insight’s Editor treats economics and defense as intimately intertwined. Insight’s Editor is not associated with any one political party -anywhere- nor does she have a political agenda. Content selection, therefore, is based on subject-matter relevance and level of strategic importance.
